The Malcapuya Island Resort is expected to set a benchmark in sustainable resort design and eco-friendly development in the Philippines. As early as the inception, master plan, architectural design, construction, and up to its operation and maintenance, sustainable practices and principles are used to integrate the proposed designs with its natural environment.
A smaller building footprint is achieved by putting the 75 different structures on stilts. The remaining area of the island shall be undisturbed, preserved and left covered by natural landscapes. The island will have is its own water desalination plant, grey water harvesting systems, its own sewerage treatment system, water efficient plumbing fixtures, and on-site power generation.
